See how a gene family changes with depth.

Choose a reference gene and taxonomic level. Explore the returned group members across species and assemblies, then inspect the genes behind each bar.

A prepared collection of reference gene families. This shows orthogroup membership, not a gene phylogeny or experimental complementation. Alternate assemblies from the same taxon remain separate.

Sources, snapshot and interpretation

Data and group assignments come from OrthoDB. The collection uses explicitly selected source gene and assembly IDs. Levels are those returned by the gene-centric API, rather than a reconstruction of the complete group hierarchy.

Bars count returned member records within each assembly; they are not confidence scores. Multiple copies may occur in a group. Shared group membership is not proof of equivalent function. A missing row or level does not establish gene loss or a lack of research.
